SHIFT STUDIO makes games and apps. They are published by Shift Web Design Pty Ltd ("we", "us"), an Australian company. This policy covers this website and every game and app we publish, with a section for each one that handles data in its own way.
We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. We don't sell personal information, we don't show third-party advertising, and we don't use advertising IDs.
This website
Enquiries. When you send the enquiry form we receive your name, email address, the topic you picked and your message. We use them only to reply to you. The message is delivered to our inbox by our email provider, Resend.
No tracking. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Our host, Cloudflare, keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) to run and protect the site.
Our games and apps
Depending on a game or app's features, we may handle the categories below. The section for each app says exactly what it does. Where an app's section is more specific, it applies.
- Account data: if an app has accounts, details such as your name, email address and username.
- Device and technical data: device type, operating system and app version, crash logs and performance diagnostics.
- Purchases: purchases are processed by Google Play, Apple or Steam. We never receive full card numbers or banking details.
- Notifications: if you opt in to push notifications, a device push token to deliver them.
- Support: messages you send us, kept so we can resolve your question.
We use this information to run and improve our games and apps, deliver what you buy, send notifications you asked for, fix crashes, and meet legal obligations. Some apps use service providers for hosting, sign-in or billing; these are named in the app's section. Where data is stored or processed outside Australia, including in the United States, we take reasonable steps under APP 8 to make sure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Crop Hero
Crop Hero collects no personal data. Your farm is saved as files in the game's private storage on your device and is not sent to us. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or crash reporting.
On Android, the full game unlock and skins are bought through Google Play Billing. The purchase happens between your device and Google Play; we don't receive your payment details. Uninstalling the game deletes its saves. On Steam, Steam may handle features such as achievements and cloud saves under Valve's own privacy policy.
Brainrot: Stop Wasting Time (Android)
Accessibility Service. Brainrot's optional Reel Counter uses Android's AccessibilityService API, only after you accept an in-app disclosure. It accesses which app is on your screen, so the counter appears only in the reel apps you select, and scroll activity in those apps, to detect when you swipe to a new video. Some apps only report scrolling to services allowed to view their window, so Android describes this service as able to view your screen. Brainrot uses that access only in your selected reel apps and only to receive scroll activity. The app on your screen is not stored. Brainrot keeps a daily count of reels per app, stored only on your device and excluded from Android backups. This data is not collected by us, not shared with anyone and not sold. The service does not read text, messages, passwords or other on-screen content, and it does not perform actions for you. You can turn it off at any time in the app or in Android's Accessibility settings.
App usage. Brainrot uses Android's usage access permission to show your screen time. This information is processed on your device.
Scrolld (Android)
Also published on its own at /scrolld/privacy.
On your phone only
Scrolld reads Android's usage statistics, with the Usage access permission you grant, to work out which apps you used, for how long, how often you opened them and how often you unlocked your phone. This app-by-app history is stored only on your phone, is left out of backups, and is deleted when you uninstall the app or use "Delete data on this phone".
If you sign in
Signing in is optional and only needed for Circles. If you sign in with Google we store:
- Your Google account email and name, to run your account.
- The username you choose, which members of your Circles can see.
- Your date of birth, visible only to you, to restore your life grid on a new phone.
- One row per day with your total screen time, short-form minutes and pickups. Members of Circles you've joined can see these totals while "Share my totals" is on.
If you subscribe
Purchases go through Google Play. Our billing provider RevenueCat records your subscription status against your account id. We never see payment details.
Notifications
If you turn on Circle nudges, we store a Firebase Cloud Messaging token and your phone's time zone to send them at sensible local times. Both are deleted when you turn nudges off or sign out.
Who processes data for us
Supabase (database and sign-in), RevenueCat (subscriptions), Google (sign-in, Play Billing, Firebase Cloud Messaging). We don't sell data, show ads or use advertising IDs.
Your choices
Turn off sharing in the app at any time. Delete your account in the app (You, then Delete my account) or on the web at Scrolld's delete page: your profile, daily totals and Circle memberships are deleted from our servers straight away. Revoke Usage access in Android Settings at any time. Scrolld is for people aged 13 and over.
